Helga Salwe is a documentary photographer based in Melbourne, Australia, whose work draws attention to the everyday beauty in people, places and communities.

Helga has worked for a diverse array of clients, including The Australian Conservation Foundation, The Goodweekend and Text Publishing. Her work is exhibited widely and is held in numerous public and private collections, including the National Portrait Gallery of Australia and The National Library of Australia. In 2015, a series of Helga’s photographs depicting family, community and rural life were published by Five Mile Press in the book Mother Country. She holds a Masters of Contemporary Art from the Victorian College of the Arts and is a member of Mapgroup, an independent collective of documentary photographers.
